Therapy Monitoring
BMD carried out 12 to 24 months apart, post therapy can be used
to detect changes in bone mass from baseline. However BMD is not
sufficiently sensitive to accurately measure changes in bone mass
that are less than 3%. Osteomark NTx provides a dynamic indicator
of the current level of bone resorption, shows significantly
earlier response to therapy – as early as 3 to 6 months – and when
used in conjunction with BMD gives a more complete picture of bone
status than either technology alone.
There are a variety of reasons why osteoporosis treatments
sometimes do not work.
- Lack of efficacy
- Failure to follow the dosing instructions correctly
- Long term adherence and persistence with therapy is poor
- Poor compliance due to side effects
